Pada hari Minggu, 27 Desember 2020, di Gereja HKBP Dusun Manaon, Desa Aek Nabara, Kecamatan Marancar, Kabupaten Tapanuli Selatan, Pendeta Torang Simatupang pada khotbahnya menyisipkan penyampaian pentingnya menjaga orangutan Tapanuli (Pongo tapanuliensis) yang merupakan satwa dilindungi undang undang sekaligus satwa endemik yang hanya ada di Ekosistem Batang Toru.

Pendeta Torang Simatupang menyampaikan bahwa kitalah masyarakat yang tinggal di pinggiran hutan yang menjadi benteng utama untuk menjaga keberlanjutan Ekosistem Batang Toru agar satwa-satwa yang ada tidak punah dan kita terhindar dari bencana alam seperti banjir dan tanah longsor.

Pada acara khutbah minggu ini dihadiri oleh 25 jemaat. Kebetulan gereja ini juga sedang mengadakan peringatan natal.

Pastor Torang Simatupang said that we are the people who live on the edge of the forest which is the main fortress to maintain the sustainability of the Batang Toru Ecosystem so that the existing animals do not become extinct and we avoid natural disasters such as floods and landslides.

The sermon this week was attended by 25 congregations. Incidentally, this church is also holding a Christmas celebration.
