Our Special Thanks to TOP for Supporting Protection of Tapanuli Orangutan
Posted on 16:11 December 28th, 2020

The Board of Directors and Management of the Scorpion Foundation would like to convey our thanks to The Orangutan Project (TOP) for supporting Scorpion Foundation’s efforts to protect the world’s most endangered ape- the Tapanuli orangutan, in Sumatra, Indonesia.

With the support of TOP, Scorpion has been able to do regular joint patrols with government forestry policemen to prevent human-wildlife conflicts, especially with the Tapanuli orangutan. TOP’s support including providing funds to purchase a vehicle and support its operational costs, has made it possible for Scorpion and the forestry policemen to handle wildlife conflicts in the Batang Toru ecosystem. The Scorpion’s work has been recognised by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) of Indonesia by giving an award to Scorpion.
