Preventing Tapanuli orangutan capture in Simaninggir Village (September 08, 2020)

Field staff of Scorpion Foundation in Batang Toru got an information about four orangutans (Pongo tapanuliensis) entering local community plantation area in Simaninggir village, Marancar subdistrict of South Tapanuli regency.  On Tuesday (2020/09/08) the staff and four local villagers visited the plantation and monitored the forest near Simaninggir village. The team did not find any orangutans but found one animal nest which look like orangutans’. Furthermore, the team met with some local villagers to advise them not to capture orangutan.
