Posted on 18:09 September 28th, 2020

The BBKSDA-SU Resort Office (Wildlife Authority) together with the Scorpion Foundation conducted an awareness campaign for the protection of the Tapanuli orangutan in North Tapanuli on 27 September 2020. The Scorpion Foundation and the BBKSDA-SU field staff provided information about the situation of the Tapanuli orangutan to the Sabalaga HKBP preacher, Mr. Hendra Samuel Sihombing, to be included in his lecture.

In his speech at the Sunday sermon in Sibalanga Village, Adian Koting SubDistrict of North Tapanuli Regency, Pastor Mr. Sihombing advised the audience to prevent the capture or trafficking of Tapanuli orangutans because these actions violate law no. 5/1990. The head of the Sibolga Port Resort and Pinangsori Airport, Lantas Hutagalung, from BBKSDA-SU told to Scorpion Foundation that he was also given the opportunity to deliver the Orangutan protection campaign to 121 church members who attended the Sunday sermon.
