A Soldier is Sentenced to 3 Months in Prison for Involvement in Orangutan Trade (September 23, 2020)

A soldier, Sergeant Maryanto was sentenced to 3 months in prison by a military court in Banda Aceh on Wednesday (23rd of September 2020). He was found guilty of transporting and trading of protected animal (orangutans). In the final court session at Lhokseumawe District Court, the Chief Judge Lt. Col. Chk Setyanto Hutomo as the Chief Judge said that Maryanto was guilty of transporting and trading of protected animal violating law no. 5/1990. 

Maryanto was arrested in Aruldeng Hamlet, Pining Village, Gayo Lues regency, Aceh. Meanwhile, his fried Mr. Darmuka  was sentenced to a 1 year prison sentence and a fine of IDR 50 million on Tuesday, April 28,2020.
