A Rhinoceros Hornbill is Successfully Rescued from North Tapanuli, Sumatra (September 8, 2020)

A joint team from the Wildlife Authority (BBKSDA Sumut) and Scorpion Foundation rescued a Rhinoceros hornbill (Buceros rhinoceros) from Parbubu I Village, North Tapanuli regency in North Sumatra province. 

This bird was captured in Parmonangan Forest near the Batang Toru Ecosystem by an illegal hunter but later gave it Mr. Siahaan in Tarutung who later handed over voluntarily to the BBKSDA Sumut and Scorpion Foundation. The bird has been delivered to Sibolangit Animal Rescue Centre for medical examination and will be released back in the wild when ready..
