The GLNP authority Rescue a Black Eagle  from Marike, Langkat, Sumatra (July 10, 2020)

On July 9, 2020, an eagle (Ictinaetus malaiensis) was successfully rescued by a joint team consisting of Forest Rangers from Gunung Leuser N.P. Authority, forestry policemen from the Wildlife Authority Agency (BBKSDA Sumut) and field staff of Scorpion Foundation.

The Eagle was confiscated by GNLP Authority from a local villager house in Marike when carrying out the joint patro. After the confiscation, the eagle was taken to the GLNP office in Bukit Lawang for medical check up. The eagle looked unhealthy, therefore, the team together with the wildlife authority took the eagle to Wildlife Rescue Center in Sibolangit for rehabilitation.

Black eagle (Ictinaetus malaiensis) is protected by the Indonesian law. Its population in the wild continues declining. 


This eagle looks unhealthy.



The eagle is in a transport cage of Scorpion Foundation before taken to  Wildlife Rescue Center in Sibolangit.
