Burung Elang (Nisaetus cirrhatus) ini telah diamankan oleh petugas dari Otoritas Satwa Liar (BBKSDA SU SKW II) bersama tim lapangan dari Yayasan SCORPION di Medan Deli, Sumatera Utara. Pemilik elang, Ibu SR, mengaku tidak mengetahui burung tersebut adalah spesies dilindungi, kemudian secara sukarela menyerahkannya kepada petugas. Burung elang ini telah dibawa ke Pusat Penyelamatan Satwa milik BBKSDA di Sibolangit untuk diobservasi dan diperiksa kesehatannya, agar memiliki kesempatan untuk dilepasliarkan ke alam.
