Orangutan Monitoring in Marancar Julu, Marancar subdistrict,  South Tapanuli (May 12, 2023)

Scorpion Foundation field staff visited Marancar Julu Village, Marancar sub-district of South Tapanuli Regency to monitor the presence of orangutan in the village.

During the visit, Scorpion field staff (Dedi Daulay) met with three villagers (Marauten, Satrio and Eprijal) to get information about the presence of orangutan in the village. 

The villagers said that orangutans were still often seen in the area. Two months ago, an orangutan  came to the plantation areas in the village but only for a short while and then left.
