A New Human-Wildlife Conflict Mitigation Task Force is Formed in Tapanuli, Sumatra (May 23, 2023)

NGOs and government various agencies held a meeting at the North Tapanuli Regency Head Office in Tarutung on the 23rd of May 2023.

All parties in the meeting have agreed to form a Task Force for Mitigating Human and Wildlife Conflicts in North Tapanuli and in its surrounding areas. The composition of the Task Force consists of Chairperson (Regency Head of North Tapanuli), Vice Chairperson (Vice Regency Head of North Tapanuli). Members consist of 25 government agencies and some NGOs.

The NGOs consist of Yayasan Scorpion Indonesia (YSI), Yayasan Ekosistem Lestari (YEL), Yayasan Orangutan Sumatra Lestari-Orangutan-Information Center (YOSI-OIC), Healthy Planet Indonesia (HEPI), Green Justice Indonesia (GJI), and PRCF. Following the formation of the Task Force, it is planned to carry out regular monthly meetings at the office of Environment and Forestry department of North Tapanuli regency.
