Evacuation of a Sumatran Tiger in Mandailing Natal (May 19, 2023)

The Wildlife Authority (BBKSDASU) field office in Sipirok called Scorpion Indonesia office to inform that a Sumatran tiger was snared in Pastap Village, Tambang sub-district of Mandailing Natal Regency. The BKSDASU together with Scorpion Foundation departed to the village at 8 pm in the same day and arrived at the location at 2 am the following day.

On Saturday morning (20/05/2023) the BBKSDASU and Scorpion staff made an observation to the location. Other organisations also joined the team including Batang Gadis National Park (BGNP) authority, Orangutan Information Center (OIC),and  Sumatra Rainforest Institute (SRI).

The team evacuated the tiger and moved it to the BGNP office, however, the tiger eventually passed away.
