On the southwest coast of
Aceh province, the collection of turtle eggs from the wild is very difficult to
stop. People continue to collect these turtle eggs to be consumed or sold to
restaurants. Turtle eggs are easy to find in restaurants in this region.
“There must be a serious effort to stop taking turtle eggs from nature. Without serious efforts, the turtles can be threatened with extinction in this area,” Director of Yayasan Ekosistem Sigom Aceh (YESA), Adnan NS, told Scorpion on Saturday (June 29, 2019).
