Custom Office and the Indonesian military busted smuggling of 3 orangutan cubs in Dumai, Riau province of Indonesia. Head of Wildlife Authority (BBKSDA) in Riau, Suharyono told the press on Wednesday night (6/26) in Pekanbaru, Riau.

He explained, based on information from the local community that there would be smuggling of protected animals from Pekanbaru to Malaysia through small port in the Dumai City area by using a Speedboat.

Together with the three orangutans, some other animals were also confiscated including two long-tailed monkeys (macaca fascicularis), one siamang (symphalangus syndactylus) and one binturong (arctictis binturong).




This is one of the three orangutans which were confiscated in Dumai, Riau. It looks very stress.
