SCORPION Foundation on Friday (20th of May 2016)
reported its findings in the Wates wildlife market, Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta on
the sale of illegal birds. The report was addressed to the Head of the Natural
Resources Conservation Agency (KSDA) Yogyakarta, Ir. Ammy Nurwati, M.M. by
electronic mail.
SCORPION investigator visited Wates market in Yogyakarta on
Thursday, 19th of May 2016.
Approximately 200 individuals were found in this market
comprise of 20 species. Scorpion also asked the traders whether the animals on
sale were received with transport permit (SATS-DN) as required by the
ministerial decree No. 447 / Kpts-II / 2003 but it turned out none of them can
show SATS-DN of animals that entered Wates market. Therefore, Scorpion asked
Ir. Ammy Nurwati, M.M to control all the wildlife entering Yogyakarta area so
that all equipped with SATS-DN.
