Visits were made in two major
wildlife markets on Sunday, i.e., in 16 ilir
market in Jln Ki Marogan and in Cinde market in Jln Sudirman, Palembang.
During the visit to these two markets, Scorpion
investigator asked the traders if the birds brought to these markets equipped
with transportation permit (Surat Angkut Tumbuhan dan Satwa Dalam Negeri
(SATS-DN). No one had the permits, so their birds can be categorised as illegal.
According the Forestry Minister Regulation No. 447/Kpts-II/2003 concerning
administration directive of harvest or capture and distribution of the
specimens of wild plant and animal species (Article 61), All and any
activities of domestic commercial distribution shall be covered by Permit for
Domestic Transport of Wild Plants and Animals (SATS-DN).”
In its report on today,
Scorpion insisted the head of KSDA South Sumatra to control the illegal birds
and protected species sales in Palembang.
Protected species found by Scorpion on Sunday included Leopard cats, and slow loris.
