Provincial Police in Jambi
announced today (Thursday, 20th of October) that Police and the Wildlife
Authority (BKSDA) arrested a member of protected animal part trade syndicate,
Edi Kumala. He was arrested in Jambi city on Tuessday (18/10) for possession
of tiger and crocodile skins. Both the tiger and the crocodile are protected by
the Indonesian law.
Edi posses 2 tiger skins, 3 crocodile
skins, and 2,600 pieces of snake and
lizard skins.
For the purposes of further
investigation the police and BKSDA in Jambi are still studying the case of the
syndicate selling the protected wildlife parts.
Head of Jambi Provincial Police, Brigadier General Yazid Fanani, quoted by Antara news agency saying the activity of Edi Kumala has long been monitored by police in Jambi.
