Tapanuli Orangutan Awareness Campaign through Religious Event in North Tapanuli (March 1, 2020)

The resort office of BBKSDA-SU in Central Tapanuli together with Scorpion Wildlife Trade Monitoring Group carried out awareness campaign for protection of Tapanuli Orangutan in North Tapanuli on the 1st of March 2020.

The Scorpion and the field staff of the BBKSDA-SU provided information of the situation of the Tapanuli orangutan to the preacher of HKBP Parsingkaman, Mr Torasep Akaesar Silaban, for inclusion at his speech. On his speech at the Sunday sermon at Pagaran Lambung, Adiankoting subdistrict of North Tapanuli regency, Preacher Mr Torasep told his audience to prevent any capture or trade Tapanuli orangutan because such action violate law no. 5/1990.

Resort head of Sibolga Seaport and Pinangsori airport, Lantas Hutagalung, of BBKSDA-SU told Scorpion Foundation that the awareness like what was done in Pagaran Lambung village is a very good activity that need to be continued in the future.
