Scorpion and BBKSDA Investigate a Suspected Human-Tiger Conflict in Hapesong, Batangtoru (March 15, 2020)

On Friday (March 13, 2020), a plantation staff found a dead goat on PTPN III Hapesong plantation area in South Tapanuli. The staff thought that the goat was attacked by a tiger. So, the management of PTPN III Hapesong reported the case to local police station and to the field staff of the wildlife authority (BBKSDA-SU). 

The local police in Batang Toru visited the location where the dead goat was found on the same day it was reported. 

The BBKSDA staff, Harianja and Oloan, together with a policeman from Batangtoru Police Station, PTPN III Hapesong Security Officer and two staff of Scorpion Foundation conducted further investigation on Monday (March 15, 2020) to find out if it was a human-tiger conflict. 

The Wildlife Authority (BKSDA-SU) staff advised the local community not to be panic as it was still uncertain if the goat was a victim of conflict with tiger.

A Scorpion staff continue to be presence in Batangtoru to investigate the case further.
