Joint Patrol in Huraba Village, Batang Toru Ecosystem,  Sumatra (May 26, 2021)

Yesterday, forestry police from the Wildlife Authority (BBKSDA SU SKW V) together with Rangers from SCORPION Foundation again conducted a patrol in Huraba Village, East Angkola Sub-district, South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra. (26/05/2021).

In the village, the patrol team discovered some timbers which were allegedly stolen from Dolok Sibual-buali Nature Reserve  but the team did not meet anyone around the timbers.  The Dolok Sibual-buali is the habitat of the Tapanuli orangutans in West Batang Toru Orangutan Metapopulation.

The forestry policemen had destroyed the timbers meanwhile the case was still under further investigation.

Pada Rabu, 26 Mei 2021, Polisi Kehutanan dari Otoritas Satwa Liar (BBKSDA SU SKW V) bersama Rangers dari Yayasan SCORPION kembali melakukan patroli di Desa Huraba, Kecamatan Angkola Timur, Kabupaten Tapanuli Selatan, Sumatera Utara.

Tim Patroli masih menemukan beberapa bekas pemotongan kayu yang diduga dicuri di sekitar Kawasan Cagar Alam Dolok Sibualbuali, yang merupakan rumah bagi Orangutan tapanuli di Ekosistem Batang Toru. Kayu-kayu yang diduga hasil aktivitas illegal tersebut telah dimusnahkan oleh tim patroli.
