A Sumatra tiger is tied up and hanged in a house of a local community in Bangkelang Village, Batang Natal sub-district of Mandailing Natal Regency in North Sumatra province on Sunday (March 4, 2018). This poor Sumatran tiger was made a spectacle of the community.
"Dear green friends, this action is very regrettable as a Sumatran tiger has been a victim. It is hoped that after this event in Batang Natal, there is an initiative of joint operation with legal action on illegal activities in forest areas around the location," said the official Tweeter of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) on Sunday (4th of March, 2018).
The case started when the tiger entered a house of the local community. It was immediately reported to Batang Gadis National Park Authority. Then the Head of the Park’s authority contacted the officer of Wildlife Authority (BBKSDA) of North Sumatra who immediately sent a team to the location but the team members were asked not to kill or shoot the tiger.
"However, because of anxiety and fear, the local police finally shot dead the tiger. There will be an autopsy and after the autopsy the body of the tiger will be destroyed by burning and the case will be brought to local police in Mandailling Natal," the Tweeter said further.
