Cruelty to Elephants Continues in Mangkang Zoo (Semarang), Central Java (May 13, 2017)
Posted on 17:21 May 15th, 2017

Last February, The Scorpion Wildlife Trade Monitoring Group reported cruelty to elephants in Mangkang Zoo and requested that the Wildlife Authority (BKSDA) in Central Java stops the cruelty of chaining elephants by two legs. Until today, there has not been any reply from BKSDA.

On Saturday, 13th of May 2017, Scorpion Investigator re-visited the zoo and found the cruelty to elephants was still going on. Elephants here were chained by two legs causing them unable to move freely, and stress.

All are invited to write to disbudpar@semarangkota.go.id, pemkotsmg@semarangkota.go.id and to bksda_jateng@yahoo.co.id asking to stop the cruelty to elephants in Mangkang Zoo Semarang.
