The Wildlife Authority (BBKSDA) in North Sumatra Province and the Scorpion Wildlife Trade Monitoring Group confiscated three eagles from a three-star hotel, Hotel "G", in Medan on Friday (19th of May 2017). The eagles have now been moved to BBKSDA Wildlife Rescue Centre in Sibolangit for health care before they are returned back in the wild.
An "officer" of Hotel "G" told Scorpion that the three eagles were captured by fishermen in Belawan and gave them to the "officer" who later placed them at the hotel to entertain hotel visitors.
The Scorpion investigator collected the information of the three birds a week before the confiscation and passed the information on to the BBKSDA staff who decided to take the birds.
