Boy is Still in Kasang Kulim “Prison” (October 21, 2016)
Posted on 22:20 October 21st, 2016

Last month Scorpion Foundation requested Ministry of Environment and Forestry to move an orangutan from Kasang Kulim Wildlife Park in Riau to animal rescue centre for eventually released in the wild. However, when Scorpion Foundation visited the park last weekend, the orangutan, named Boy, was still there.

Boy is placed in a larger enclosure compared to previous small cage. However, the enclosure has not grass but with concrete floor which looked like “prison.”

The reason why Scorpion asked for this orangutan to get the second chance to live in the wild is because it is a “handed-over” orangutan, not from animal exchange. Therefore, Boy need to be reintroduced to support conservation of this endangered species.
