All Natural Resources Conservation Agencies (BKSDA’s) in Indonesia are asked to provide data of wildlife traders in their respective areas and to take action to avoid illegal wildlife trading. This was stated in a Circular Letter of Director General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation (KSDAE) to all BKSDA offices in Indonesia. The Scorpion Foundation received a copy of the circular letter today, Tuesday (23rd of February 2016).
The Directorate General Circular letter is sent to all BKSDA offices through out Indonesia in relation to the plan of President Joko Widodo to Launch Wildlife Protection Programme in Kepulauan Seribu on 21st of March 2016.
In the letter (No. SE.3/KSDAE/kkh/ksdae 2/2/2016 date 18th of February 2016) signed by Director General, Dr. Tachrir Fathoni MSc, all BKSDA’s in Indonesia are also asked to socialise the wildlife laws and regulations to wildlife traders.
All BKSDA in Indonesia are hoped to send their respective reports of wildlife trade data and photographs by end of February 2016 the latest.

Wildlife Trade Monitoring by Scorpion Foundation
The Scorpion Foundation and its partners currently active in monitoring of illegal wildlife trade in Indonesia and regularly provide report of findings to relevant BKSDA offices with Carbon Copies to Director of Biodiversity Conservation, Director General of Law Enforcement and Minister of Environment and Forestry Mrs. Siti Nurbaya Bakar. For some reports, Carbon Copies were also sent to President Joko Widodo. Wildlife monitoring were regularly carried out by Scorpion Foundation in major cities including in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Medan, Pekanbaru, Bali, and some other small towns.
