SCORPION Urges Forest Rangers to End Cruelty to Songbirds in Aceh, Sumatra (February 28, 2016)
Posted on 20:28 February 28th, 2016

The SCORPION Foundation today (Sunday, 28 February 2016) sent an email to the head of Aceh Natural Resources Conservation Agency  (BKSDA) asking to bust sales of protected species in illegal market. Eagle cub was on sale on a roadside in Aceh Besar Regency, province of Aceh. Eagle is a protected species under the government regulation number 7/1999.

SCORPION investigator in Aceh visited this illegal market on Thursday (25th February 2016) and took photographs of the eagle cub. The investigator also saw songbirds (White-rumped Shama) on sale packed with plastic sack-a very cruel way of displaying the birds.
