A female Silvery Langur (Trachypithecus cristatus) has been rescued by the Wildlife Authority (BBKSDA SU SKW II) with the SCORPION team at Asrama-Helvetia Street, Medan, Sumatra (12/04).

This activity was carried out because of a public complaint to the BBKSDA who saw a Langur tied to a tree on the side of the mainway on Jalan Asrama-Helvetia Medan. Furthermore, the BBKSDA and SCORPION teams conducted on-site monitoring to verify the complaint.

The SCORPION team found the langur tied to a tree, chained around its stomach. Langur looks limp, unhealthy, less aggressive, and has visual impairment.

According to the description of the animal owner, Mr. Limbong said that he obtained the langur from his brother's garden, because he saw the animal limp, so he intended to save it as his pet. Mr Limbong did not know that this animal was protected.

After the lutung was transferred to the transport cage, the team took the lutung to the Animal Rescue Center in Sibolangit managed by BBKSDA SU to undergo a medical examination.
