 SCORPION: Improvement of Orangutan Welfare at Kasang Kulim Zoo Seriously Needed (February 23, 2016)

Supervision of orangutans at Kasang Kulim Zoo in Pekanbaru, Riau Province is very week. Visitors can make direct contacts with the orangutans.

Scorpion Investigators have visited this zoo for 3 times. The last visit was on Monday (22 February 2016). During the 3 visits, Scorpion found orangutans in small cages, and visitors can throw anything they want to the orangutan including junk food, drinks, etc.

Scorpion Foundation, today, has sent an electronic mail to the Director of Biodiversity Conservation at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF), Mr. Bambang Dahono Adji asking him to provide guidance to the zoo managements to improve orangutan welfare in the zoo.
