Director of the Wildlife Trade Monitoring Programme at the Indonesian Scorpion Foundation, Gunung Gea accompanied by Scorpion’s Senior Investigator Marison Guciano visited the office of Jakarta Conservation Agency (BKSDA) to urge the BKSDA to take action against violators of law and regulation on animal protection. Before visiting BKSDA office, Scorpion previously sent report and photographs of gibbon and siamang illegally kept as pets in Jakarta. Following the Scorpion’s report, BKSDA Jakarta has made field observation and has decided to confiscate the two animals in a matter of days.
During the meeting, the Jakarta BKSDA stated that they have made plan for confiscation of the two protected animals reported by Scorpion, however, BKSDA Jakarta asked to keep the information confidential for the importance of further investigation.
