Dog Restaurant Puts Animal in Barbaric Conditions (September 27, 2015)
Posted on 18:30 September 28th, 2015

Dog restaurant business is good in Medan, North Sumatra province of Indonesia, but the dogs that are in the waiting list for slaughter suffer in barbaric conditions.

On Sunday (27/09/2015) SCORPION Investigator in Medan visited MERICO Dog Restaurant at Jalan Jamin Ginting Medan. In this restaurant they slaughter 8 to 10 dogs each day to make Sauteed Dog, Grilled Dog, and Dog Soup.

With permission of restaurant owner, SCORPION visited the cage of dogs which were on the waiting lists for slaughter. The dogs were wrapped in plastic sacks and their mouths tied with plastic rope. With these barbaric conditions the dogs can not move their bodies freely. Handling of dogs prior to slaughter needs improvement.

These dogs are in the waiting lists for slaughter. Below these four dogs, there are also many other dogs with similar condition.

This looks like pet shop banner but it is not. It is a banner showing manu of food made of dog meet, i.e.,  Sauteed Dog, Grilled Dog, and Dog Soup. Saksang B1 in Bataknese language means "Sauted Dog" usually cooked by mixing the meat and the blood of the dog.
