A staff of Gembira Loka Zoo in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, Sag
(37 years) was arrested for corrupting money which was supposed to buy lamb to feed 5 tigers at the zoo but instead he spent the money to pay down payment and installment of buy a car and 3 motorbikes. The total money he manipulated was IDR90,000,000 (USD7,000).
Head of Police Detective in Kotagede Police, Yogyakarta, Inspector Edi Subekti told the media, the suspect task at the Gembira Loka zoo is to buy meat and to feed 5 tigers every Wednesdays and Sundays.
Every feeding time, he was supposed to feed the tigers with three kinds of meat for the tigers, i.e., beef, lamb, and chicken meat, 17 kg each kind.
On Wednesdays, he didn’t buy lamb, but only beef and chicken meat. The money for buying lamb IDR 3,000,000 (USD 200) was corrupted every week and spent money to pay installments of his car purchase by credit.
“He used to do it on Wednesdays, while on Sundays he did it accordingly. This manipulation had been going on for almost 1 year until he was able to corrupted IDR 90,000,000 (USD7,000),” Inspector Edi Surbekti told the press on Tuesday (26/04/2016)
The suspect told the police that he started the manipulation since 2014. For the first 6 months, he collected IDR 35,000,000 which he spent for down payment of car purchase. The monthly installement is paid from the corrupted money of tiger food. (Jogja.com)
