BBKSDA in North Sumatra Signs an Agreement with Scorpion to Eradicate Wildlife Crimes (March 8, 2016)

The Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA) in North Sumatra and the Scorpion Foundation today (Tuesday, 8 March 206) signed an agreement to eradicate wildlife crimes in the province of North Sumatra. The cooperation agreement was signed by the Head of North Sumatra BBKSDA, John Kenedie, with the Director of the Scorpion Foundation, Gunung Gea, in BBKSDA office here in Medan.

North Sumatra Police Raids Two Illegal Wildlife Parks in Medan But Arrest of Owners is Still Under Preparation (March 2, 2016)

North Sumatra Police raided two illegal wildlife parks in Medan (Hairos Recreation Park in Jalan Djamin Ginting and Mora Indah Recreation Park in Jalan Sisingamangaraja). However, according to a source of Scorpion Foundation today (2nd of March 2016), the police has not arrested the owners of the illegal wildlife parks.

Markets of Death, Silent Forests (March 1, 2016)

Last month 2,400 songbirds were saved by the East Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA), only to die a short time later in their hands from neglect. Last week 400 birds were confiscated in Merak, Banten. They, too, are likely to die from neglect. It’s all so unnecessary and avoidable, but the BKSDA is adamant it knows best, when in fact it knows nothing. Offers of help are brushed aside.
