On Monday (24 August 2015), wildfowls were on sale again at Jalan Metrologi Ujung Medan. One bird was sold IDR15,000 (US$ 1.1).
"The meat of this bird is very delicious," said one buyer.
The wildfowls were displayed in a cruel way. The wildfowl beaks were tied up tightly until they can not make sounds. When they are in the wild, they usually produce beautiful sounds happily but since they are catch by cruel hunters, their beaks were tied up.
This is how our wild birds disappearing gradually until they become rare and threatened. The Indonesian conservation agencies (BKSDA’s) usually do not pay much attention to this kind of situation. Even if the animals are registered as protected species or endangered, they could still be found on sale openly in wildlife markets.
