Three tiger cubs were born in Barumun Wildlife Sanctuary, Batangonang subdistrict, Padang Lawas Utara Regency, North Sumatra. Acting
head of the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA-SU), Irzal Azhar, told
the press on Friday, 4rd of February 2022.
"From the results of direct observations
by officers from the BBKSDA-SU, it is confirmed that 3 Sumatran tiger cubs were born in Barumun Wildlife Sanctuary. The tiger cubs appear to be in
good health but cannot open their eyes yet. The sex of the three cannot be
identified yet," said the acting head of BKSDA-SU, Irzal Azhar.
The births of the three cubs were known first by a Sanctuary Keeper through CCTV observation.
As reported by Tribun-Medan.com, previously (3 years ago) precisely on December 8, 2018 in the same place, 2 Sumatran tiger
cubs, a male and a female, were born. The male was named Surya Manggala while the female was named Citra Kartini.
The two tigers are now 3 years old and are being prepared to be released into the wild and now still waiting for the results of a release site survey.

Surya Manggala and Citra Kartini along with the 3 new born tiger cubs all have the same parents, namely Gadis (the mother) and Monang (the farther).
