THE WILDLIFE TRADE MONITORING GROUP

Head of Region III of the Wildlife Authority (BBKSDA) in Padangsidimpuan, Mr. Gunawan, inaugurated the construction of a Wildlife Holding Cage at the BBKSDA office in Sipirok on Monday 11^th of November 2019. The construction work of this this cage had begun since October 2019 and was completed 100% at the beginning of November 2019.

The cage is built with the intention of being used as a temporary shelter for confiscated animals, especially those still involved in criminal cases and still in legal process. Animlas which are handed over to the North Sumatra BBKSDA can also be accommodated in this cage.

The inauguration of the cage was attended by staff from BBKSDA Regional III Padangsidimpuan, Scorpion Executive Director Ali Bangun Gea and Scorpion Representative in Padangsidimpuan, Indra Wati.

This cage was built in collaboration with BBKSDA Region III Padangsidimpuan and the Scorpion Foundation. The cage measuring 2 meters x 2 meters x 4 meters is made of standard SNI concrete iron, equipped with Galvalum roof, with concrete floor. The cage construction was carried out by a private company PT Mitra Sejati Workshop.
