SCORPION Offers Assistance to Confiscate Infant of Endangered Mitred Leaf Monkey (November 9, 2015)

Last week, the Scorpion Foundation reported to Natural Resourse Conservation Agency (BKSDA) in North Sumatra about protected parrot and endangered Mitred leaf monkey on sale in Pasar Bintang wildlife market in Medan. One week after the report, the animals have not been confiscated, therefore, Scorpion Foundation writes again to BKSDA on Monday (9/11/2015) offering assistance to show location of the sale for confiscation by BKSDA.

Scorpion Foundation found the parrot and the Mitred leaf monkey on sale Sunday (1/11/2015) and reported to BKSDA the following day.

Nias parrot is protected by government regulaton number 7/1999 while Mitred Leaf Monkey (Presbytis melalophos) is listed by the International Union of Conservation (IUCN) as Endangered Species.
