Scorpion Foundation today (Monday, July 11, 2016)
wrote to the Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Office of autonomous local
government of Bengkulu City in Bengkulu province of Sumatra, asking to immediately
put an end to cruelty to animals in Bengkulu Wildlife Park (Bengkulu zoo). Animals in this zoo,
including longtail macaques, pigtail
macaques, gibbon, binturong, and a number of other animals are in very alarming
conditions.
These animals are placed in enclosures full of
trash. Enclosures are not supplied with water 24/7 for the animals to drink. A
pigtail was injured but do not get proper medical treatment.
Scorpion Foundation Investigator visited this wildlife park on Saturday 9/07/2016 and took photographs of animals in poor conditions.
Without immediate action, animals in this park will experience painful deaths.
This injured pigtail macaque is placed in an enclosure with no water 24/7.
