Scorpion foundation sends a report by electronic mail to the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) in North Sumatera today asking to take orangutan (Pongky) from Medan zoo and give him a chance to live in the wild. In the report Scorpion also aks BKSDA not to give any orangutan to the Medan zoo in the future because its management fails to prevent crulety to orangutan and to other animals at the zoo.
Visitors can throw anythings to the orangutan and also can make direct contact with the orangutan in the zoo. In the visit to the zoo Sunday (20/12/2015) Scorpion investigator found the orangutan eating plastic paper, making direct contact with human.
In the report, Scorpion also included its findings of other crulety to animal such as an injured hawk displayed to the public visitors instead of curing in clinic.
