Joint Patrol on the Border of Conservation Area in Batang Toru Ecosystem (October 17, 2022)
Posted on 15:58 October 20th, 2022

The Scorpion Indonesia Foundation together with the Wildlife Authority (BKSDASU Area V Sipirok) and the local community carried out a regular joint patrol in two villages (Gapuktua, Marancar Godang) in Marancar subdistrict, South Tapanuli Regency. The two villages are next to the Lubuk Raya Nature Reserve in Batang Toru Ecosystem, North Sumatra province.

It was a regular patrol to monitor illegal activities such as illegal logging, illegal hunting, and illegal encroaching. During the patrol, a piece of board was discovered on a roadside. It is probably taken from the conservation area, but the evidence was found yet. Further investigation is still ongoing.

During the patrol in Dolok Lubukraya, the patrol team used a patrol car which was donated by The Orangutan Project (TOP).
