Chairman of the Indonesian Council of Ulama in Bandung regency,
Yayan Hasuna Hudaya criticized the dog-wild boar fight which currently rampant
in West Java, one of them in Bandung regency. In the dog-wild boar fight which
is well-known as Dugong, a wild boar fights with dozens of American Pitbull
Terrier dogs in the Dugong arena. To watch dugong, residents have to pay IDR 10,000
(US$0,7) as in Pacet sub-district.
"All forms of cruelty to the living
beings should not be legal, it's a wrong treatment," Yayan told tribun
jabar. co.id in Bandung on Monday (October 23, 2017).
Meanwhile, head of Bandung
Regency, Dadang M Naser, has a different view. According to him Dugong is the
entertainment of the people as well as eradicating the wild boars which are considered
pest by farmers.
"In Bandung regency it is one of the people's entertainments. Dugong community here also asked for help to PERBAKIN (the Indonesian Shooters Union) to catch the wild boar," Dadang told Tribun on Monday (Oct 23, 2017). (tribunjabar.co.id)
