The tradition of dog-wild boar fight in Bandung regency (West Java province) is criticized for torturing animals. Vice Chairman of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Daniel Johan, stated that this animal fight must be stopped. "It's a pity, it's a spectacle that's not educational because it's full of cruelty, and something like this is usually associated with gambling. I'm hoping it will be stopped soon," he told Detik.com on Sunday (22/10/2017). Commission IV of DPR is in charge of agriculture, food, maritime, and forestry affairs.
Meanwhile, Director of Wildlife Investigation at the Scorpion Wildlife Trade Monitoring Group, Marison Guciano commented that the dog-wild boar fight had become a local tradition in some places in West Java and this must be stopped. "We've monitored it, I said it was a criminal act for violating Article 302 of the Indonesian Criminal Code," Marison said.
Chairman of an Indonesian NGO, Care for Children SAHARA Indonesia, Agus Muhtar Sidik also condemned the dog-wild boar fight because children also watch this animal fights. He hoped local government ban children from watching this fight.
