Assessment of the Effectiveness of Conservation Area Management in North Sumatra (September  7-8, 2023)

Medan: - North Sumatra provincial wildlife authority (BBKSDASU) carried out an assessment on the efectiveness of conservation management in North Sumatra. The assessment was held at Grand Antares Hotel in Medan from 7 to 8 September 2023 using . METT (Management Effectiveness Tracking Tool).

Representatives from private sectors, universities, and Non-Government Organisations (NGO) were invited to participate in the assessment.

Six NGO's who were invited and participated in the assessment included: Scorpion Indonesia Faoundation. Veterinary Society, Sumatra Rainforest Institute, Yayasan Orangutan Sumatra Lestari, Yayasan Ekositem Lestari, Centre for Orangutan Protection.

Scorpion Foundation is one of NGOs working in three conservation areas in Tapanuli (Dolok Sipirok, Dolok Lubukraya, and Dolok Sibualbuali). Activities include handling human-wildlife conflicts, and awareness programme to support field offices of BBKSDASU.
