Scorpion Foundation this morning (Monday, 11/07/2016) visited Depok wildlife market located near Depok Baru Railway Station. During the visit Scorpion found approximately 5,000 illegal birds on sale.

From the information obtained from traders, the birds came from Central and East Java Provinces. Transport of birds to Depok were not covered with transportation permits (SATS-DN) while Minister of Forestry degree No. 447 / Kpts-II / 2003 requires all domestic commercial circulation of wildlife be covered with transport permits (SATS-DN).

Scorpion Foundation - a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) wrote to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry’s Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) in West Java asking to stop illegal traffic of birds to prevent fast-disappearing of Indonesian wildlife.
