The World's Largest Crocodile Farm is not Very Good in Caring for Other Wildlife’s
Posted on 10:58 September 21st, 2015

Asam Kumbang Crocodile Farm in Medan, North Sumatra province of Indonesia, is well known as the world largest crocodile farm. Established in 1959, this farm now has over 2,000 crocodiles (Crocodylus porosus). This farm is one of recreation facilities in Medan open for public by paying entrance fee IDR6,000 (US$0.40).

In addition to viewing of crocodiles, visitors can also watch other animal shows such as snake, and pig-tailed macaque (Macaca nemestrina) shows.

The crocodile farm management is very good in managing the crocodiles, but unfortunately not very good in caring for other animals. For example, in the cages of two pig-tailed macaques here, there is no water which should be there all the time for the animal to drink but when Investigator of IFOTA (Indonesian Friends of the Animals) visited this place on Sunday (September 20, 2015) the cages were not supplied with water.
