Ramba Sihasur: -
Scorpion Indonesia Foundation staff conducted biodiversity monitoring in the Dolok Dolok Sipirok Nature Reserve around Ramba Sihasur Village on the 15th of January 2025.
This monitoring was carried out to monitor the biodiversity around this village and at the same time observe the possibility of disturbances to the rare wildlife habitats in the context of prevention. If illegal activity such as hunting, illegal logging, encroachment is found, the finding will be immediately reported to the authorities for further action.
During this monitoring, Scorpion Foundation staff met an orangutan playing alone in the trees.
Scorpion staff also saw an orangutan nest not far from where the orangutan was encountered.
The Scorpion Foundation routinely monitors biodiversity in the Dolok Sipirok Nature Reserve area, especially in the forest area around Ramba Sihasur village with the aim of monitoring possible disturbances to orangutans to the biodiversity. If it finds any violations or disturbances to biodiversity in the area, the Scorpion Foundation will immediately report it to the authorities to take preventive measures.
Dolok Sipirok is a Nature Reserve that is the habitat of a number of protected animals including approximately 150 Tapanuli orangutan.
