  • A Sydney surfer has started a Change.org petition to shut it down

Shocking photographs show dolphins kept in horrific conditions in a small resort swimming pool in Bali.

The four dolphins are kept in a chlorinated pool measuring 10m by 20m at a hotel at Keramas Beach on the Indonesian holiday island.

The Wake Bali Dolphins tourist attraction charges visitors money for an 'exciting' dolphin experience, allowing people with swim with, hug and kiss the dolphins.

Let's make your holiday more fun and memorable to have a swimming with dolphins, you can get up close and truly unique experience where you will to create some magical memories with some of sea world's delightful Dolphins,' the Wake Bali Dolphins website says.

'You are invited to not just watching but rather interacts directly with dolphin through hugging, kissing, petting, and really swimming with dolphins.'

'After initial protests when Wake Bali opened last July, the resort still remains open and the dolphins remain trapped in a tiny chlorinated pool,' Mr Brokensha wrote in his petition.

'This is a request for Wake Bali Dolphins to free the dolphins and allow them to be re-introduced into the wild, where they belong.'

He said a similar dolphin facility was closed down two years ago by Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hasan, who pledged to close any other dolphin attraction sites.

Mr Brokensha said he was surfing near Wake Bali dolphins when he heard a whistle blowing, the Herald Sun reported.

'I thought it must be a game of soccer or volleyball, but a local said "no it's dolphins",' he said.

'They jump into the air when the whistle blows, so they’re looking straight at the ocean.'

Mr Brokensha said the dolphins looked 'still and lifeless' after their performance. It is understood the chlorine has left the dolphins almost blind.

Wake Bali Dolphins told the Herald Sun it was a government-approved tourist attraction and the pool had been checked by authorities.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Wake Bali Dolphins for comment.
