SCORPION Urges to Ban Orangutan Show in Taman Safari Indonesia (October 2, 2015)

Scorpion Foundation and IFOTA (Indonesian Friends of the Animals) carried out a demonstration in front of Manggala Wanabakti building, the headquarters of Ministry of Environment and Forestry, at Jalan Gatot Subroto Jakarta, Friday 2 October 2015.

Approximately 20 members and supporters of the SCORPION Foundation and IFOTA through their speeches protested orangutan show at Taman Safari Indonesia in Bogor, West Java province of Indonesia.This recreation facility also allows visitors making direct contacts with orangutans.

After delivering speeches in front of the Mangala Manabakti gate, the demonstrants met several officers of the ministry conveying their protest of the orangutan show.

During the meeting with SCORPION and IFOTA, ministry officers explained that there is no regulation prohibiting orangutan show. SCORPION and IFOTA urged to ban orangutan show in Taman Safari and in zoos all over Indonesia.
