Scorpion Reports Illegal Wildlife Trade in Barito Market Jakarta (April 22, 2016)
Posted on 20:27 April 22nd, 2016

Scorpion Foundation insisted the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) Jakarta to enforce Forestry Minister decree Number 447/Kpts-II/2013 concerning the Administration Directive of Harvest and Capture and Distribution of the Specimens of Wild Plant and Animal Species. According this Ministerial decree, transportation of wildlife in Indonesia must be done with domestic transportation permit (SATS-DN). Without SATS-DN, transportation of wildlife is illegal.

When Scorpion Foundation visited Barito wildlife market in Jakarta on 20th of April 2016, no one could show SATS-DN of their wildlife. Therefore, Scorpion Foundation sent a report to BKSDA Jakarta today asking to enforce the decree Number 447/Kpts-II/2013.

In the letter Scorpion suggested that enforcing decree number 447/Kpts-II/2013 is very good for BKSDA to be able to control traffic of the wildlife. In addition, BKSDA can also collect money for every SATS-DN as non-tax government income.
