Rescuing an Oriental pied hornbill in Batangtoru (February 18, 2021)

Thursday, February 18, 2020, the wildlife authority (BBKSDA SU SKW V) together with two field investigators from scorpion foundation managed to confiscate an Oriental pied hornbill (Anthracoceros albirostris) in the village of Wek III Batangtoru, South Tapanuli Regency, Sumatra.

According to the description of the hornbill owner, Mr. A. Hasibuan explained that the hornbill was obtained in Muara Batangtoru and he had been raised for 3 years. He also stated that he did not know the bird was protected.

The team consisting of Bona Pardosi, Fahmi and Tagor from BBKSDA, Aris Dedi and Irham from SCORPION took hornbill to the Animal Transit Cage at BBKSDA SU SKW V Office – Sipirok to undergo rehabilitation before being released back into nature.
