A Slow Loris infant Prevented from Illegal Trade in Stabat, Sumatra (July 27, 2018)
Posted on 11:59 July 28th, 2018

One week ago a slow loris infant entered a house in Dusun VI, Stabat, Langkat Regency in North Sumatra and captured by a local resident, Mr. Syamsul Bahri.  Syamsul kept the slow loris in his house for one week until his friend told him that it was a protected animal and he should hand it over to the Wildlife Authority (BBKSDA).

Syamsul informed BBKSDA of the slow loris. After receiving the information, the BBKSDA and Scorpion staff rescued this animal from Dusun VI Stabat on Friday (27th of July 2018) and put it in a government owned rescue centre in Sibolangit, North Sumatra.

This slow loris will follow a medical check and will be returned in the wild when ready.

While under the care of Syamsul Bahri, some people came to him asking if this animal was on sale but Syamsul did not sell it.
