North Sumatra Provincial Wildlife Authority (BBKSDASU) Evacuates Two Pig-tailed Macaques from Binjai (August 23, 2024)
Posted on 16:47 August 27th, 2024

South Binjai: - The North Sumatra Provincial Wildlife Authority (BBKSDASU), assisted by Scorpion Indonesia Foundation, evacuated two pig-tailed macaques from South Binjai, Binjai City, North Sumatra on Friday (2024/08/23). The two macaques were taken to Scorpion Foundation facility in Medan and then translocated to Scorpion's Rescue Center in Hapesong Baru, Batangtoru,  South Tapanuli regency for medical check up, rehabilitation, and possible release.

The two macaques were kept by their owner behind his house in East Binjai for some years but later he wanted to hand them over to the BBKSDASU because these animals frequently frightened people who approached them.

When moving the macaques to transport cages, one of them suddenly attached the owner and got some serious injuries and was hospitalized.
